Fun with the kids

The boys have been begging Nyle to go roller-blading with them. His excuse was that his rollerblades were packed and he couldn't find them. Well, the boys got up in our attic and found them for him. So, here they are...rollerblading!
Tanner told me not to blog it, so I ran and got my camera! What a good idea!

Syd and Kendra. Do you know any good dentists? I think we have a problem!

My Quirks according to Nyle

Well, I'm guessing on these, but this is what I think he would say.
1. I never finish anything I start. I sweep the floors and leave a pile to one side, I start a quilt and it sits there for two years, I start scrapbooking, and only get to 12 mnths. of the boys life. Yikes! I'm kind of a mess.

2. I procrastinate. He tells me he needs plans and I wait until the last second to finish them.

3. I do laundry and sometimes fold it, but hate putting it away. So, we have stacks of clean clothes covering the coffee table.

4. I don't like to get out of bed in the morning when he thinks I should. 6:30/7 is a little too early during summer.

5. I'm not very good with the checkbook and I'm definitely not a bookkeeper!

6. I let food go bad sometimes.

7. I don't keep my car super clean. Who has time for that?

I know, I know, I am the picture of a perfect homemaker! Well, I think I've exposed enough about my faults! I don't want you to know too much. Although, most of you probably know a lot of these.

Nyle's quirks

OK. So, since I really don't have much to share lately, I thought I would talk about my cute hubby Nyle. He has quite a few quirks. I picked up on this one night when I was talking to my mom and she asked what I made for dinner. I told her I had made chili burgers, but had to hide the fact that I didn't have any hamburger buns, just bread. She thought that was weird. Why? Because it is one of Nyle's funny quirks. So here they go.

1. He will not eat a hamburger or hot dog without the specified bun to accompany it

2. No socks are allowed in bed...not on his feet, my feet or the kid's feet. Feet need to breathe, according to him.

3. He doesn't like to stop for anything when we are traveling. Once, we went to Utah, a 10-12 hour drive, and he had me pack a cooler for the entire trip. We only stopped for gas. What's the fun in traveling then, right dad?

4. He washes his truck before he takes a big trip in it. Does this make sense to anyone? Bug guts are splattered all over it in minutes, but at least he starts clean, right?!

5. It takes him 10x's as long as anyone else to fix a sandwich or hamburger because all of the ingredients have to be perfectly organized and arranged.

6. His idea of a great Saturday is to organize, clean his vehicles, or garage, or any work project around the house. He feels so happy when the day is through and he looks at what he's accomplished. For those who know me, you know that my idea of a perfect Saturday is not THIS!

7. When the kids are gone at a sleepover or something...I think, lets go somewhere, let's do something fun. He gets sad and misses the kids. He can't wait to go get them. What a good dad!

Well, that's all for now. I don't want him to think I'm picking on him.

Quilt Show

This last Saturday was the annual quilt show. It was awesome! They say that after you've lived here for about 4 years you start to avoid it, but I'm not there yet. I look forward to it. One of my favorites is the quilt just below. This is an up-close of one of the flowers. It must have taken hours! This one wasn't for sale, but another one by the same quilter was priced at $10,000! Yikes! Oh well, I wasn't in the market anyway!

This was on the same quilt...it looked 3-D!
Julia with another cool one by the same quilter
Sydney matched this quilt, so all the women around me were taking pictures of her too. Mind you, I said women. This was definitely a woman's day. They even changed the mens bathroom to women only! I can't imagine why the men don't love it!
Dianne, Me, Syd, Julia, McKenzie, & Jessica. Vonnie took the picture.
Quilts are all over the buildings.

The one on the far left was one of my favorites. The flowers that I pictured were out of this quilt.

Art in a quilt!
Julia is laying down to check this one out! Just kidding! I forgot to rotate it. Aren't the colors cool in this one!

4th of July fireworks!
So, after we went to the quilt show, Julia and I set a goal to put a quilt in the show next year. Everyone should come check it out! The second weekend in July! Mark your calendars.

The Great Mouse Hunt

Brett & Julia came this weekend and we had a blast! The boys found a mouse climbing around in the rocks around the front porch. You know what that means? Target practice time. All they had to use at the moment was the beebee (sp?) guns, but they had fun. I don't think they got it though.

Dance Pictures

Lonnie, Syd's dance teacher, just forwarded these pictures. I thought I would share them with you. They were at the "Bite of Bend" and the Rodeo Parade.

Mary's Wedding

Yesterday, the youngest sister, and the last single sibling in Nyle's family got married! Sydney was the flower girl and Alex, her cousin, was the ring bearer. It was at a farm and the ceremony was under a big oak tree. It was a beautiful setting and great weather!

Sydney really thought that she should get a bouquet too. She kept stealing the bridesmaid's bouquets!

The wedding party pulled up in a volkswagen bus. It was pretty cute! Titan, their dog, was in the ceremony too.

Syd & Alex walking down the aisle. Alex was so cute waving at us!

There was a guy at the wedding doing a painting of the ceremony. They hadn't hired him, but it was really cool! How many people get a painting of their wedding?!
Head family...all the brothers and sisters, Vonnie & Curt.

Feeding the cake to each other...they were actually really nice to each other.

Some of the Head family...good times!

Kah nee ta

We got to take a couple of days off for the first time in awhile. We went to Kah nee ta, a resort with a natural warm springs pool. It was a ton of fun, but a bit too hot for a warm pool...it was 106! I was melting if I wasn't in the pool. Oh well, it was still fun! They had a little miniature golf course and a playground too. The kids loved every minute!
Nyle showing me his muscles! Cheeseball (cute though)!

Tyler is showing off! He did really good at his golf game...he can't wait for grandpa to come show him how to play real golf (seriously, dad).
The fun slide at the pool. One of my kids just went off the top, but I just missed them.
Hanging out at the campground.
Crazy Sydney! Is she having fun? Heck yeah!

Got Roof & Arches!

We got a roof last week! It looks so good. The house is now starting to blend in with the trees, thank heavens! Nyle is adding all the interior arches now and they really look nice. He curses me everytime I add one, but he will thank me later!

Entryway arches
Black roof and painted eaves!
This is the back of the house...the covered porch is right outside the dining room and kitchen.
This is the back again, but now you are looking at the master bedroom windows.
Sydney's arch. Her bed will go right beneath it. She's got the best room in the house! Yes, I know, they are spoiled! So was I. But my kids are getting put to work as we speak. They are outside filling the dumpster with all the trash that covers the jobsite. This has to be one of our messiest jobsites ever.
